Camp Nou, the Home of FC Barcelona

Is the biggest stadium in Europe. Even bigger than the Brazil’s temple Marcana. Just only Estadio Azteca in México is bigger than Camp Nou (stadia focused mainly in football). With 99.000 seats, the sensation to imagine: What does a player feel while is playing there? Unbelievable.

Camp Nou is the most popular visit in Barcelona for tourists. In 2014, the Museum and Stadium Tour hosted 1.530.484 visitors. More popular than Picasso’s Museum and Dalí’s Collection in Catalunya. On the other hand, Camp Nou is the 4th most visited Museum in Spain (after Museo del Prado, Reina Sofía Museo and Museo Thyssen in Madrid).

The ticket tour price costs 23€ adult. I recommend to show your student’s card and will be 17€. I think the tour is worth, even if you are a Barça fan or you just like football.

Recently, my degree’s final project was about the football impact into tourism industry. I had studied every stadium tour of the biggest football clubs in the world. Also, I have visited some of the most important stadia in the world, such as: Emirates Stadium, San Siro in Milan, Old Trafford, Anfield Road, Wembley Stadium, Allianz Arena, Mestalla (Valencia CF), Aviva Staidum (Ireland’s National), San Mamés in Bilbao, and Yokohama International Stadium. Camp Nou is one of the best in my opinion.

Remember, I am your best guide for Camp Nou! Come over and experience the Home of FC Barcelona, I will show you the best secrets and stories of the club!

Santa Maria del Mar

Santa Maria del Mar is not a Cathedral. Is a Basilic. But is considered as the “real” Cathedral of Barcelona. The authentic one for us. The people’s Cathedral.

Santa Maria del Mar (source: apartamentsbarcelona)

The gothic style Basilic was built during the 14th century, by the people who were living around, on the outskirts of Barcelona. Yes, the city centre was the ‘Barri Gòtic’. But the people from ‘El Born’ (means to fight and not “to born” in English) , needed their own church.

Actually, we can see the workers whom were building the temple. Where? On the main door there are their figures of the “bastaixos’ in order to remember them, as a tribute. The men who were carrying stones from Montjuïc to El Born.

Santa Maria del Mar is a must see in Barcelona, after 5pm the entrance is for free. The neighborhood has a rebel history and we can notice the pain of the war. The war between the Spanish army against the Catalan army and its consequences (next to Santa Maria del Mar there is ‘El Fossar de les Moreres where the Catalan soldiers were buried).

Finally, the temple became more famous due the Ildefonso Falcones’ book: The Cathedral of the Sea. For that reason the people believe that is a Cathedral. Not the official one, but the real one for us.

There are so many secrets and stories that makes it special for all the visitors and even locals! Discover more with me!

Sant Jordi, best day in Barcelona.

Sant Jordi (Saint George in Catalan) is not a national holiday, people work. But for us, is the best day in whole year! Completly different from other national parties or festivities. Sant Jordi has a huge tradition for Catalans. Normally, people do not celebrate Saint Valantine’s day. No. We celebrate Sant Jordi as our love’s day.

The tradition says all men have to give a rose to all important women in their life. And what about the women? Women have to give a book to their most important men in their life (I know a book is more expensive than a rose…). This is the deal.

But, why a book and a red rose? The red rose is because the legend of Sant Jordi, patron of Catalunya. He killed the dragon to protect and defend his beloved princess, and from the claret, grew a red rose. He gave it to her as a symbol of love.

Then, why a book? Because on the 23rd of April died two of the most important writers in world’s history: William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes. So, logically, it became the Universal Book’s day.

All Barcelona is full of stands where are selling books and red roses, you can see walking on the street children as school activity, couples, famous writers signing their books…

For me, this is the best day ever!

Mobile Word Congress

Probably, this is one of the biggest congress in the world. It is not about numbers, it is about our future. Barcelona is the capital of the future, because is here where all the companies from everywhere want to present their innovations.

For the city, just to keep going with our philosophy, working hard to be considered as one of the best cities in the world. To improve our services and facilities to be a “smart city”.

Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg attends a keynote presentation event at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

Like Barcelona did before with the Universal Expos in 1888 and 1929 and with the Olympic Games in 1992, the city is innovating by itself. Every year, for one week, Barcelona is the hottest city for technology.

What about the congress location? Probably on of the best scenarios for an event.

Barcelona, step ahead!
